The NHLF funded Potted History Project have kindly invited us to be a
part of their symposium event which concludes the first phase of the project, hosted
by the Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon. The meeting will be an opportunity
to see the work that the project have been doing, as they start to process the huge
volume of unpublished kiln material excavated in Barnstaple in the 1970s and 80s.
North Devon pottery has been studied from consumer sites across England and
America, and this visit represents a chance to see kiln waste on a large scale from
one of the major North Devon production sites in the medieval and post-medieval
period.
